The The Jackson Investment Company (JIC) was formed in 1995 to own and manage residential real estate in Washington, D.C. with $5,000. The company started slowly with the purchase of a single 4-unit building at 1826 Rosedale St. NE. It followed with a purchase of another 4-unit building a half a block away 1 year later. In 1996, JIC purchased two partially vacant 9-unit buildings located at 125 Yuma St. SE and coordinated a comprehensive rehab project to put them in excellent rental condition. In 1997, JIC acquired a 12-unit building that only required minor repairs to become rentable located at 133 Yuma St. SE. In 1999, JIC acquired a property consisting of 2 buildings and 24 total units. Located at 124 and 125 Atlantic Street SE and renamed Juanita Gardens, this property needed the most extensive rehab of all. These buildings were vacant and partially gutted. JIC performed a total rehab of all 24 units. Juanita Gardens is now the flagship of the company and a model for apartment living in the area. Today with assets totaling more than $5,000,000 JIC is a testament to what is possible when vision and commitment meet opportunity in our great city.
JIC is partnering with Housing and Urban Development and William C. Smith and Company to develop the Sheridan Terrace Project.
In 2005, JIC purchased a property in Prince George’s County Maryland on which they will be developing a three store mini-mall.
JIC is now embarking on a new and exciting phase of its growth, restaurant franchise ownership and operation. JIC will become the first and only International House Of Pancakes (IHOP) franchisee in the District of Columbia. The property will be located at 1523 Alabama Ave. SE Washington DC 20032. The restaurant pad is owned by William C. Smith and Company. Mr. Smith will be working closely with JIC to see this project developed and successful.
